The Swedish Coast Guard is a civil government preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. With our maritime capabilities, the Coast Guard is also an important authority in Sweden's total defense. A key part of the maritime surveillance mission is to ensure safety in Sweden's maritime zones. This is done, among other things, through crime prevention, monitoring, and maintaining order. The Coast Guard's rescue mission includes a wide range of different rescue operations, including environmental rescue efforts in case of accidents or spills and rescue operations in case of shipwrecks or emergencies.

Description

The Coast Guard is looking for a Technical Manager for KBV 201, located at the coast station in Härnösand.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities as a Technical Manager will be to:

  • be responsible for the vessel's operation and maintenance, both mechanical and electrical equipment
  • be a supervisor for other engineering personnel
  • plan and carry out ongoing maintenance work and service
  • document in AMOS
  • act as an inspector during shipyard stays
  • maintain the function of fire chief on board
  • be responsible for a large part of the training of new personnel

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is responsible, independent, meticulous, and stress-resistant. You have good collaboration skills as well as good problem-solving abilities.

You are proactive in technical matters and are happy to share your knowledge with others. You have the ability to lead employees, delegate tasks, and identify the need for various maintenance efforts.

It is of great importance that you can work in maintenance systems, such as AMOS, and that you have a good ability to plan both preventive and corrective maintenance, and that you can maintain a good dialogue with shipyards and marine engineers.

The position requires that you have a mechanical engineering qualification in class MD, in accordance with the guidelines for KBV shipping regarding staffing, qualifications, and training for the safe operation of the Coast Guard's vessels (dnr 2018-3130), which corresponds to the qualification issued by the Swedish Transport Agency for engineering officers class III according to Chapter 2, Section 17 of the regulation on qualifications for maritime personnel.

The position also requires that you, according to the aforementioned guidelines, have the following competencies:

  • approved 2-year medical certificate according to the Swedish Transport Agency's regulations on medical certificates for seafarers (TSFS 2011:117), 12.1
  • basic safety training, 12.2.1
  • training in advanced firefighting, 12.5
  • training for electrical installation work on board, 12.10

Furthermore, the position requires that you, according to the previously mentioned guidelines, have or will obtain the following competencies:

  • training in oil cargo handling, 12.7.1
  • training in food hygiene, 12.12
  • leadership and work environment training, 12.13-14
  • DIP training (general), 12.15.1

Conditions

The employment is permanent and begins with a 6-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible/according to agreement.

For employment, Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the security protection act are required.

The Coast Guard participates in overseas missions and international operations. Therefore, the employment includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operation.

In the case of permanent employment, there is also an obligation to be placed in a war position.
